It is built upon the lot which formerly housed the Casa Maya which previously hosted many Presidents and other foreign dignitaries over the years. The Royal Sands is part of the Royal Resorts family which includes the Club Internacional de Cancun, the Royal Mayan, Royal Caribbean and the Royal Islander.
